About this Destination

Perched high on the volcanic tableland of Trirashmi Hill, the Pandav Leni Caves represent over 2,000 years of Buddhist architectural and monastic heritage. Built primarily between the 2nd century BCE and 6th century CE, the complex comprises 24 viharas (monasteries) and chaityas (prayer halls) gifted by Satavahana and Kshatrapa rulers. Notable caves feature ancient Brahmi stone inscriptions, water filtration cisterns, seated Buddha sculptures, and intricately carved guardian figures. Climbing the well-built stone stairs takes about 20 minutes and rewards visitors with breathtaking 360-degree vistas of the Nashik urban sprawl and surrounding hills.
