About this Destination
Ramkund is the holiest bathing ghat on the sacred Godavari River and the primary focal point of the world-famous Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela held every 12 years. According to ancient lore, Lord Rama bathed in this pool during his 14 years of exile and performed the ancestral Asthi Visarjan of his father King Dasharatha here.
Every evening at sunset, the ghats come alive with the mesmerizing Ganga-Godavari Maha Aarti, with floating oil lamps (diyas) and spiritual chants echoing across the river. The surrounding riverfront is flanked by historic stone temples, heritage bridges, and the colourful Sunday vegetable and copper-brass bazaars of Old Nashik.
